Amendment 13


The 13th Amendment abolished slavery in the United States and made it illegal for people to be forced into unpaid labor, except as punishment for a crime. I think this amendment is extremely important because it helped bring freedom to millions of people and was a major step toward equality. It changed the country by ending a harmful and unfair system, although it also showed that more work was still needed to achieve full civil rights for everyone.

  This amendment lets the people to bear arms, meaning that people are able to protect themselves. It also protects individual freedom. But also, I think there should be reasonable laws to make sure gins are used responsibly and communities. When it comes to today, guns have taken over making it very dangerous for us to even go out and enjoy, but we have to be very aware because people use guns to kill each other instead of protection. This amendment is also the most debated. Times have changed since the 1700's. There isn't much to say about this amendment except for how dangerous it is for others when they don't think they can even protect themselves.

  The 5th Amendment protects your rights in legal situations. It means you don’t have to testify against yourself , you can’t be tried twice for the same crime , and the government must follow fair legal procedures before taking away your life, freedom, or property. It also says the government must pay you if they take your private property for public use.
